Experiment with Albania / Internationals against vetting in Kosovo and Macedonia

The claim that justice reform was a failed experiment and that today holds justice hostage for tens of thousands of Albanian citizens is taboo for most political actors in our country, with few exceptions. This is because the reform is also one of the biggest investments of the ambassadors of the United States of America and the European Union. Consequently, anyone who claims failure sounds blasphemous.

First, the ambassadors continue to talk about the reform as a success story, second, government officials amplify the message to the public.

With this in mind, the Minister of Justice Ulsi Manja, invited to a panel discussion on the reform, considered as a success the elimination from the system of 60% of judges and prosecutors due to vetting, whose absence has put the whole system in a deadlock.

At the beginning of the 'Tirana Connectivity Forum' held in Tirana today, Manja recited a speech where he spoke "a second phase of justice reform for the years 2021-2025, a strategic document that aims to implement the vision of an independent justice system , accountable, accessible, transparent and efficient, which protects human rights and serves society according to European standards ”.

Enthusiastically, Manja admitted that he had problems with vacancies in the courts and the prosecutor's office, but the Socialists have predicted that for the next 3 years to produce about 700 more magistrates from the Magistrates' School. In short, the expectations are that the system will be completed there by 2024.

But the ease with which the Albanian justice minister acknowledged the lack of justice was not the same for his panel colleagues Albulena Haxhiu of Kosovo and Bojan Marickij of northern Macedonia.

As it was seen at the meeting, even the internationals who still propagandize today the success of justice reform do not share the same lack of sensitivity to this problem created in our country.
