What happens if Charles III dies?

On the day that King Charles III was hospitalized for cancer, the Royal Family took care of the details of the King's funeral arrangements in case he passed away.

The detailed protocol, codenamed 'Menai Bridge', would be implemented immediately in the event of the monarch's death.

The British newspaper 'The Independent' publishes the details and reasons for naming such a protocol.

According to protocol, the royal family will be notified of the king's death in a series of phone calls, informing the prime minister, the cabinet secretary and several ministers and senior government officials.

As with the death of Elizabeth II, the information will then be broadcast to Commonwealth countries in which the monarch is head of state and then to the press.

The coronation of Charles III's successor, Prince William, will take place a few months after his father's death, while his wife, Kate Middleton, will become the king's consort. William is likely to address the nation that day and begin meetings with government officials.

Noteworthy is the absence of mention of the youngest heir to the royal family, Prince Harry, who has for some time no longer been part of the claims to the royal throne, due to contradictions within the royal family.

Codenamed Operation Menai Bridge, it was named after the world's first iron suspension bridge in Wales, which the current Monarch has served for years.
