The issue of the Serbian dinar, the tripartite meeting starts in Brussels

The tripartite meeting between the chief negotiators from Kosovo and Serbia, under the mediation of the European Union envoy, has started in Brussels. The meeting will discuss the ongoing efforts to find a solution for the transfer of funds in dinar currency from Serbia to Kosovo.

This is the fifth meeting in Brussels with the participation of the chief negotiators, Besnik Bislimi from Kosovo and Petar Petkovic from Serbia, on the issue of the Serbian dinar, the use of which was banned in Kosovo in February.

Unlike the previous meetings, the special envoy of the European Union, Miroslav Lajcak, did not initially hold separate meetings with Bislim and Petkovic, entering directly into a tripartite meeting with them.

With the new regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK), the euro was designated as the only currency in Kosovo for cash payments from February 1. The entry into force of this regulation has angered Serbia, which through its state budget sends financial aid to Serbs living in Kosovo.
