They were denounced by the sister of the 26-year-old woman who died of COVID, the investigations for the doctors are suspended

The Tirana court approved the suspension of investigations against several doctors who were denounced by the sister of a 26-year-old woman who died from COVID two years ago, but who was understood to have been affected by the virus after her death.
Klitjana Zarka requested from 2021 investigations on the protocol of the polyclinic and hospitals by submitting a complaint for medical negligence. The complainant's argument was that the doctors did not diagnose her sister in time to find out whether or not she was affected by COVID, Arjeta Zarka, who died in the hospital at the age of 26.
The prosecution said that Arjeta Zarka showed her first health condition on August 16, 2021, after a tooth infection. Both sisters were seen by a dentist in Kombinat who gave them antibiotics.
From this moment on, the deceased Arjeta, in the company of her sister who was transporting her in a private car, asked for help but could not find what she was suffering from.
The sister's confession to the prosecutor's office showed how the two young women were not taken seriously, although according to her the deceased constantly complained of lack of strength, loss of consciousness and stomach pain.
During these efforts, the young woman was assisted for 11 days with serum, while, as her sister says, on the last day of her life, she was put on oxygen.
But the prosecutor's office that carried out the expertise after the girl's death refers to public health data that confirmed that Arjeta was affected by COVID and with all the help the viral infection progressed bringing about the consequence.
The Prosecutor's Office of Tirana adds that negligence cannot be established for the medications that were used and that it is not the actions of the health professionals that brought the consequence.
However, in the file, based on the sister's confession, it is mentioned how in the last moments when the 26-year-old's condition worsened, the doctors had asked the family if the victim suffered from depression and if she had not consumed blood pressure medication. It is expected that the decision will be appealed to the court and the closing of the investigations will be contested./Tch
